Grade Five

Fifth grade is an exciting year at Harvest Christian Academy!  We take the entire year to comb through the accounts of the Old Testament showing God’s faithfulness to His people. We spend lots of time hiding God’s Word in our hearts, challenging our students to be doers of the word, not just hearers. Each student is supported and challenged as they deepen their comprehension skills while enjoying all genres of literature. Students learn to communicate with purpose as they write narrative, persuasive, and expository pieces. From basic operations to fractions and geometry, students learn to analyze and manipulate numerical information to reason through problems. In science we delve into the world God has formed by learning about matter, energy, body systems, and our earth.  In social studies, beginning  with the Civil War and making our way to present day, we study our country’s progress  through a Biblical perspective.  And through it all, we encourage our fifth graders to grow in character and responsibility as we prepare them for middle school.
