Home - Academics - Lower School Classes - Grade Three - Mr. Aurand's Class - Mr. Aurand's Class
I want to welcome you officially to my 3rd grade class! I want you to read this letter carefully as I will be having a little “quiz” the first day to see how well you remember details about me!
I will be your teacher this year! My name is Mr. Aurand (Uh- RAND) and this is my very first year at Harvest Christian Academy. However, I am not new to Harvest. I started to attend Harvest Bible Chapel my freshmen year at Judson University in Elgin. I graduated from Judson in 2014. During my time at Judson I did several things other than study to become a teacher. One of the things that I did was play on the Judson tennis team! I was also a part of planning events for people who did not live on campus but still went to Judson.
In 2014 I also got married! I met my wife when I was working at Grindstone Lake Bible Camp way back in high school! I lived in Iowa and she was in Chicago, so we wrote letters back and forth and kept in contact through many phone calls. Her name is Colleen and we have 2 fun cats in our apartment!
The past two years I have been teaching at Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Pingree Grove. My first year I taught 4th grade. Last year I taught 5th grade social studies, 5th grade math, and 7th grade math! I love being able to get students excited about learning and coming to school. You may even see me dance around a little the classroom this year! (Watch out.. I have some pretty good moves if I do say so myself!)
The last thing you need to know about me is that I love my family. I come from a family of 6! I have 2 older brothers and an older sister. They are all married and live near Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. They all have kids too! My oldest brother, Jonathan, has two boys and one girl. Joy, my sister, has two girls and one boy. My brother, James, has two girls. We don’t always get to see them but it is fun to be with my family! My mom and dad still live in Iowa. My dad is a pastor of a small church and my mom works in a small shop in the town where I graduated high school.
I am super excited to get to know each and every one of you this year! I know that the Lord has great things in store for us this year!
P.S. Don’t forget about our “quiz!” Feel free to reread this letter to remember more about me for the first day!
