Dear HCA Families,
My name is Alex Sertic and I am so excited to meet you and your children! I have already been expectantly praying that God will move in our classroom and that His name will be glorified in teaching and relationships this year. Before we start the school year, I wanted to briefly tell you about myself and a little bit about my spiritual and professional background.
I accepted the Lord as my personal savior my sophomore year of high school. From then on I pursued after what God wanted for my life as He pursued after my heart. I started serving earlier in my faith in the worship ministry and that is where I discovered my love for music and gained a passion for using instruments to praise our Fathers name. I currently serve on the worship team at the Niles campus. I am also involved with Act Like Men. It has truly been a transformational experience in my relationships with Christ, my wife, family and has also brought me closer to the men at our church across all campuses.
In 2012 I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from North Park University in the city of Chicago. While teaching is something I always knew I wanted to do, it wasn’t until I was being taught myself, that I truly gained a love for it. For the past 5 years I have been teaching 5th grade in a private suburban school. After much prayer, I felt a calling to join the family here at HCA.
I also have some interests and passions that I try to bring into my classroom. I am looking forward to learning the individual interests of your children and incorporating them into everyday learning. For example, I am a huge sports fan. I love watching and talking all things sports Go Cubs! So teamwork, group problem solving will be implemented regularly in a fun way. As I mentioned before, I also love music. I play many different instruments and love the connection we had to God through worship and music. Finally, I have a passion for God’s Word. I want to learn more about it, study it, memorize it, and store it in my heart. I hope to instill that same love of God’s Word to your children this year as we dig in and experience it together.
Again, I look forward to meeting you all and I hope that you will join me in lifting up this coming school year in prayer.
In His Name,
