Rodger Kettering, born in Montana,  has been on staff since 2008.  Previously, Mr Kettering taught at another Christian school, wrote curriculum for Willow Creek Community Church, planted two churches and served this country as a photojournalist in the U.S. Army.  But before all of that he earned his BS in photojournalism at the University of Maryland and an MDiv at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Mr. Kettering has been married to Debbie since 1983 and they have two grown children.

"I grew up in a moral home, but never went to church.  I joined the Army right out of high school and after boot camp and photography school was stationed in Fort Hood, TX.  While at Fort Hood three things happened to bring me to Christ: I read the book The Late Great Planet Earth, which scared the heck (Can I say that?  It is true.) out of me.  I was in what should have been a fatal car accident, and I tried unsuccessfully to date a Christian girl in our signal corps, but she would only go to church with me.  I began going to her church and discovered an impossible-to-imitate love there.  The Spirit hijacked me on a Sunday morning in February 1976 before the service began and I confessed and cried through the entire service.  At the end of the service I ran to the front where Christ took over my life and I was baptized that night.  It has been a wild ride on the back of a huge lion ever since!"

It is obvious Mr. Kettering loves the craft of teaching. "I get to teach the Great Story every day in all the lesser stories that point to the great story of God's redemptive plan for mankind.  I get to show students how to see God’s creation in all sorts of new ways through the lens of a camera.  I get to teach them how to become sub-creators and get the opportunity to give glory to God every day, and that is why I teach!" Most recently, he has received the opportunity to teach at Judson University as an adjunct professor, for their digital photography and darkroom film class.
